在著名的恐龙三部曲中，索耶就以一个“回家”的意向，让我关于那恐龙文明史的阅读最后以遗憾结尾。而这本《计算中的上帝》，同样让我充满了沸腾的想象一口气阅读到最后，甚至那只深黑的上帝之手都没能冷却我的兴奋，直到最后的最后，我突然感觉全身冷掉：
他是说，他们强暴了上帝？？
一本喜欢的书最后却出现了你完全无法接受的叙述，这种失落简直就如同看到相爱的人们却无法幸福的生活在一起一般的强烈呀……（为什么我觉得我说出来这句话充满了幸灾乐祸的情绪呢……）
我突然便想到了傅斯年对顾颉刚的批评：
“我总觉得你这篇文里，与在《古史辨》上颇犯一种毛病，即是凡事好为之找一实地的根据，……如必为一事找他的理性的，事实的根据，每如刻舟求剑，舟已行矣，而剑不行，凿矣。”
上帝到底是什么？在地球人这里（索耶大人所描述的地球人），上帝是宗教，是信仰，是一些人的神，是一些人的鸦片。在弗林那人那里，上帝是创世，是万物的秩序和原因，是最高秩序。在吕特人那里，上帝是美，是直觉，是毕生去沟通和理解的另一方。
这时候我几乎要相信心同理同。我几乎可以看到索耶以极大的包容心述说了一些人类的根本需求：我们希望这个世界是可以理解的，可被感知的，甚至，是温润的。直到上帝要去干预另一些邪恶的生物，直到他们真的找到了“上帝”，并且通过这个上帝创造了一些新的存在，或许是另一个上帝。
索耶说，上帝是程序员。最终，他仍然需要上帝是有所作为的，有所承担的，甚至是可见的（他需要看到那冒烟的枪口）。最终他仍然只是一个他所描绘的地球人。章太炎说，“宣教师者，皆以造物为人格之神。”在他做出了那么多努力之后，我仍然难过的发现我们还是站在河的两岸。抱歉，我没法接受这样一个上帝。
在《姑获鸟之夏》里面，京极堂给出了与其中非常类似的创世论证据。为什么宇宙如此微妙，为什么一切都指向了人的出现。他说，这只说明一件事，那就是，观察者是人类。（量子力学意义上的观察者）
我曾经嘲笑日系推理对于“挑战读者”的爱好把一些元素玩到了变态的极致（比如密室），但正是这样的努力，让我们看到了一些推理小说的基本预设有着什么样的界限，并因此构成了与西方古典推理不同的追求。……当新儒家不假思索的接受着科学、民主等词汇的时候，我却在推理小说的作家这里看到了对“心”“物”的根本思索，真是讽刺啊。

“乾称父，坤称母，予兹渺焉，乃混然中处。”同样是一个可生的世界，到底还是张子的描述，让我觉得更亲切一些。我们只是其中一个渺小的存在，如果真的有一个最高存在，一个终极秩序，我们也只能……只能怎么样呢？至少我们不能规定他是什么样的，他有什么样的逻辑和什么样的呈现。
最终我想说的仍然是理解。
理解是我获得世界秩序的一种方式。
